Northampton Saints Starting XV

  1. Emmanuel Iyogun
7.5/10 - Iyogun tackled everything that moved and stood tall in an impressive Saints scrummaging display. Has improved massively this season.

  2. Curtis Langdon
7/10 - Was yellow carded for repeated infringements but that was the only blot on the 27-year-old’s copybook as he impressed while making 14 tackles.

  3. Trevor Davison
6.5/10 - Was replaced in the second half as he failed to have the same impact as his front row colleagues but produced some monstorous hits during the first half.

  4. Temo Mayanavanua
7/10 - He’s a mammoth of a man at over 120 kgs and his physicality combined with excellent work rate proved a key factor in a blockbuster forward battle.

  5. Alex Coles
6.5/10 - Received a yellow card at the death desperately going in at the side and was fortunate his teammates got him out of jail. Did hit double figures in the tackle count.

  6. Josh Kemeny
6/10 - Some wonderful turnovers but he failed to make an impact with ball in hand. Unlike the other flanker on the openside…

  7. Henry Pollock
9/10 - This man just can’t be contained. After conceding a needless penalty for a late hit on van der Flier, Pollock proved a menace at the breakdown and ran rings round backs to score a try any wing would be proud of. He also finished as the game’s top tackler with 17. Mesmerising all-court game.

  8. Juarno Augustus
7.5/10 - Augustus was just as good as the semi-final last year, producing shuddering hits and barnstorming carries. He’s argubaly one of the most underrated forwards in the Premiership.

  9. Alex Mitchell
7/10 - Barring the occasional error, Mitchell’s livewire urgency played a key role in Saints’ dramatic triumph with his tempo suiting the fast paced contest.

  10. Fin Smith
9.5/10 - The sort of performance which could catapult him into being a Lions test starter. Intelligent kicks, crisp passing and the sort of game management you would expect from a 100-cap veteran. Ridiculous display from someone who is only 22.

  11. Tom Litchfield
5.5/10 - Certainly the quietest back in Northampton’s backline but he proved effective when called upon.

  12. Rory Hutchinson
7/10 - A proud performance in defence, producing excellent line speed which could caused Leinster all kinds of problems. Another Saints player who is seriously underrated.

  13. Fraser Dingwall
7/10 - A great link man, popping up all over the pitch. A brilliant captain who has a strong relationship with referees. Reliable player.

  14. Tommy Freeman
9/10 - I genuinely don’t think Freeman can stop scoring tries. Took his hat-trick brilliantly, he’s fast but exceptionally physical. Brilliant battle with his opposite number Lowe.

  15. James Ramm
8.5/10 - Made more metres than anyone else on the pitch (141) and his lung busting runs laid the platform for Saints’ entries into the Leinster 22.

Northampton Saints Replacements

  1. Henry Walker
    6.5/10 - Solid setpiece.

  2. Tom West
    7/10 - Steadied the scrum

  3. Elliot Millar-Mills
7/10 - Much needed injection of physicality.

  4. Tom Lockett
7/10 - Big hits and is a real lineout threat.

  5. Chunya Munga - N/A

  6. Angus Scott-Young - N/A

  7. Tom James
7.5/10 - Great distribution and made an excellent clearance kick from his own line.

  8. Tom Seabrook - N/A
